In Sweden the first kidney exchange was conducted in October 2018. It was a 3-way exchange which is described in this article (The Journal of the Swedish Medical Association, in Swedish). The Swedish programme was closed in January 2019 (this is the date when the Scandinavian KEP officially started). In total, 7 transplantations was made in the Swedish KEP.
On June 20, 2018, the first test version of the ScandiaTransplant Kidney Exchange Programme (STEP) was launched. See this link. On April 9, 2019, the first official match run was conducted. This newsletter states that “In initial test runs several cycles have been identified. Next run is expected to be in the beginning of June.”
